Terry Smith is the Director of Business Development for Welcome House Inc., where he provides leadership across multiple areas of the organization, including Adult Day Support, Non Medical Transportation (NMT), and strategic growth initiatives. With more than a decade of experience in the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) field, Terry has dedicated his career to strengthening services that support individuals with disabilities while building systems that allow organizations to grow sustainably and thoughtfully.
In addition to his operational leadership, Terry is the creator of Welcome House’s mentorship program, designed to support staff development, leadership growth, and long term retention. His work reflects a commitment not only to quality services for individuals served, but also to investing in the people who deliver those services every day.
Terry holds a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Health Studies from Kent State University, a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education from Cleveland State University, and a Master of Business Administration in Executive Management from Ashland University. This combination of health, education, and business training allows him to approach the IDD field holistically connecting person-centered values with effective leadership, strong operations, and intentional growth.
As a presenter and educator with ConnectED, Terry draws on his real world leadership experience to help participants navigate the evolving IDD landscape. By blending practical insight with an educator’s perspective, he equips learners with tools to lead with clarity, confidence, and compassion; ensuring excellence in operations without losing sight of the people at the heart of the work.
